Project Manager, PMO

The Presidio Trust is seeking a Project Manager who will support the Project Management Office (PMO). The Presidio Trust is an innovative federal agency that stewards and shares the history, beauty, and wonder of the Presidio for everyone to enjoy forever. The ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone, the Presidio was once a military post under three flags. Today, it is a surprising national park site spanning 1,500 acres at the Golden Gate. Its rare natural habits, inspiring views, and world-class trails are a local and global attraction. It is among the most biologically diverse parks in America and a popular destination with beaches, museums, restaurants, hotels, homes, and offices.

Reporting into the Project Management Office and collaborating with the Director of Information Technology, the Project Manager, PMO will lead and deliver a range of technology and operational improvement projects that support strategic business objectives. This includes full lifecycle management of initiatives such as data governance, cybersecurity, and process improvement projects within a structured project management framework. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within scope and budget, while maintaining alignment with defined business goals and stakeholder expectations. Success in this position requires strong technical acumen, cross functional leadership, and the ability to manage complex projects simultaneously.

This is a full-time position with benefits and a starting pay range of $130,901 to $155,348, if based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The starting base salary is dependent on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Applications received by September 26, 2025 will receive first consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver assigned technology and operational improvement projects to completion by managing the full project lifecycle from inception through deployment, with clear ownership of schedule, budget and outcomes within the defined project scope.
  • Define and manage clear project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with project sponsors, technical teams, and key business stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, project plans, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, risk management strategies (risk registers), and issues logs.
  • Drive execution and accountability across cross-functional project teams to meet milestones, deliverable and strategic outcomes.
  • Manage and report on project performance, ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards; proactively identifying project risks, resolving issues and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Communicate project progress, outcomes and value to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely decision making.
  • Ensure project deliverables are transitioned effectively into operational support or business ownership, with attention to long-term sustainability and measurable impact.
  • Build and sustain a culture of delivery excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing with the PMO and broader organization.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to project sponsors and business leaders, contributing to project prioritization, business case development, and portfolio planning.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience leading and delivering complex projects, particularly in IT domains such as data governance, cybersecurity, and business process improvement/automation initiatives.
  • Professional certification such as PMP, PgMP, or PMI-ACP, or equivalent, and familiarity with Agile, hybrid and traditional methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in owning and delivering projects with defined deliverables and measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage project teams in a matrixed environment, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid) and delivery frameworks.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Superior and proven ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt to changing priorities, and lead others through change by driving quick wins and building momentum.
  • Demonstrated ability to create credibility and trust with executive sponsors, courage to advocate for teams, and to listen and work effectively with individuals at all levels throughout the organization
  • Demonstrated team leadership style that models leadership and enterprise maturity, objectivity, good judgement, integrity, calm, clarity, openness to change and new ideas, and adaptability.
  • Experience with project and resource management tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana, or equivalent platforms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, cybersecurity principles and best practices, and emerging automation technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or scaling project management processes, especially in the public sector, nonprofit, or hybrid public-private environments.

Background Check
This position is subject to an employment background check which shall consist of a review of applicable county, state and Federal criminal and civil records, state bankruptcy indexes, driver’s license, education, and employment history.
